Those who follow our Facebook page and website and are interested in what is happening in our community surely know what Bedřiška has been struggling with in recent weeks. It is the third wave of attempts to evict the residents of the community, which is definitely the worst of the evictions so far. Our community is once again facing defamation, a series of half-truths and outright lies, and a lot of unspoken but suggestive words. Those who support us are asking about these unspoken words, and we owe them a big thank you for that.
The story we want to mention began in September 2023. A member of our community was selected for the first year of the Proteus Community Academy, organized by the Via Foundation, which lasted until June 2024. For her, it was 10 months of gathering information, learning new skills, studying, laughing, and, last but not least, meeting amazing people and discovering interesting places. However, the biggest surprise came at the last meeting of the Community Academy members. Each participant shared their vision for the future with the others. They all do very commendable work for their communities, which is often underappreciated, but they do it with love and enthusiasm nonetheless. Of course, the member of the Bedřiška community also shared her "visions," and although she originally had different ones, given the current situation, her visions were directed toward ways to save the locality and our community. She was very pleasantly surprised by the reactions of the others. And as they say, every cloud has a silver lining! Another community called "VIA Keep Smiling" was created, which is trying to help save Bedřiška. The members of this new community wrote an article called Prague Far Away and God High Above, started a petition, and provided lots of useful advice and contacts. They took time out of their already busy schedules to help us, and they continue to do so. Their support gives us the strength to not give up and to keep fighting. The Bedřiška community THANKS you, you are AMAZING! The Proteus Community Academy may have ended in an unexpected way, but we know for sure that with the creation of this new community, it has fully fulfilled one of its missions – to support and develop communities. This confirms what Eva Lehotská has repeatedly said: "Strength lies in the group, not in the individual."
